Innovation, technology and programs to increase cow productivity and optimal feeding are the most important components in efforts to realize meat self-sufficiency. In order to realize this, PT Pasir Tengah, which is a  subsidiary of consumer goods and integrated agricultural commodities, PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa Tbk (WMPP) collaborated with PT Blackstone Kapital Indonesia (Blackstone Capital or BXI) by developing cattle-corn integration in Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

"The development of an integrated agricultural ecosystem area whose implementation is planned to be supported also by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Thing (IoT), as well as experienced operators, we expect to see the form of results and prospects for the development of cattle-corn integration and biogas compression can be improved rapidly and accurately," said Managing Partner and CEO of Blackstone Capital Aldi Sky Wungkana in an official statement,  Monday (16/5/2022).

Meanwhile, Venture Partner and Head of the Blackstone Capital Innovative Development Research Team (BXI-RPI) Subhanandi said that the integration of cattle and corn needs to be done holistically because one of the keys to the livestock ecosystem is feed where this animal feed consumes 70% of business costs. Therefore, the biomass potential of domestic corn crops needs to be optimized as animal feed. Meanwhile, manure from cows can also be used as fertilizer for corn plants.

"For now, we are trying to implement the cattle-corn integration area model and biogas compression in an economically scaled program. We will conduct trials first on an area of 40-100 hectares with the concept of developing the corn industry, feed industry from agricultural biomass by-products, and fertilizer industry. We are confident that this collaboration will be able to attract investors, especially in the next phase we are targeting to implement this program on 9,000 hectares of land in several industrial estates," said Blackstone Capital Senior Partner and Lead Investment Arief Khrisnawan.

CEO of PT Pasir Tengah Heri Prasojo hopes that the realization of the collaboration between PT Pasir Tengah and Blackstone Capital will bring more optimal results to increase productivity by utilizing the natural resources we have for the development of more advanced Indonesian livestock and agriculture. "With the development of animal feed corn, it can increase the productivity of cows. Moreover, the problem of the supply of corn as animal feed has been recurring," he said.
